Patching small holes in walls before painting.

Have you ever patched small holes in a wall and had the patching show through, even after a few coats of paint? It can be frustrating when this happens. But, there is an easy way to prevent it.

First make sure your patches are sanded flat and smooth with the fine side of a sanding sponge. Then apply a coat of 'drywall prime' on the patch areas with a small roller before you paint. If you repaint without sanding and priming they will still show through. Priming seals in the patch and makes sure the paint isn't absorbed into the patch.

Were the patches showing through from the previous paint job, as seen in these pictures? The best way to make it look better is to repaint the whole wall. But, make sure you sand and prime those old patches so they don't show through again!
